Report: Oregonian Confirms Deal with MLS is Done, Now its the Councils turn to set the Deal in Stone!!!!

The Oregonian Reports that the deal with MLS is done, now lets wait for the Council for tomorrows vote, PLEASE COUNCIL BRING PORTLAND TIMBERS TO MLS!!!!

SSB's Take: The New Expantion Towns in MLS, and more

Well here is SSB's take on this whole expantion thing, WE LOVE IT!!!! Not only will it be great for these two towns to come in to MLS but it will be a instant 4 way rivalry just like in the east coast in 2010. Look at this in the North East, RedbullNY, DC United, AC Philadelphia and NE Revolution are al hated rivals, they all hate each other and cant stand each others guts. Now, lets put that in the North West, Vancouver BC Whitecaps, Portland Timbers, Seattle Sounders , and SJ EarthQuakes. It looks like a instant HIT, no? But look at this the MLS likes the north, no? It defintly looks top heave on the northsides on both coasts, but in all good for the MLS, beacuse it makes instant rivals. There is no better rivals then the one in the North east, combine that with the North west, now we have some great atmospheres in MLS, wow 2011 will be a great hit with out a doubt!

Now lets look at the Vancouver BC Whitecaps, they have strong ownership, and great new stadium plan that will make BC look state of the art. and they even get a decent amount for games. But i know that they will have to work on thier supporters club, because they are not so great. Whitecaps are now the defending USL Champions, its a great gift to get a MLS team after winning the USL Championship, now lets see if they transform that in the MLS.

Now we are off to the Portland Timbers, there is nothing bad about the ownership supporters and SOCCER CITY USA, but then again thier team finished last in the USL. But lets look at this They have a owner with deap pockets. a beautiful stadium in place and they will be making it to lool more soccer savy, and it will possibly be the most urban looking soccer stadium in the world, which everyone loves. Now lets get to the timbers army, well lets just say the best supporters group in the united states of america. They support thier team well, very well. they are loud,and proud and no one can beat that. In MLS the Portland Timbers Stadium, PGE PARK will be the hardest stadium to play in MLS. This Epantion Bid was a no brainer, now it will get a MLS team which by far everyone in MLS loves!!!!

For the next round of expantion, I think everyone would love to see Montreal and ST. Louis, with them comming in it would be a great. St. Louis would make an Instant rivals with Kansas City and Chicago. Montreal would make a rilval with Toronto and New England. How great would that be. More rivals in MLS. It would only make the league so much better! When would you like to see the net epantion round? 2013? Let us know what you guys think about all this expantion stuff? like the 2 new expantion team?

Sounders Report

Well it looks like Mister Freddy "DP" Ljungberg is back in seattle to practice on the pitch with his team mates. Hey he might even play against the red bulls in the season opener. And Keller looks optimistic for the season. But did i hear former metro Perter Villagas with the sounders? Hmm looks like he might be comming back to MLS. But it does look like The sounders look like a good squad and they are gonna be a tough team to beat. In other sounders notes the team had draw vs RSL in Open Cup play.

The Sounders and Red Bulls kick off the season on the 19th. the Sounders Supporters will be at Qwest. But the Red bull supporters, will be at Nevada Smiths, if you live in the NYC area come to Nevada Smith on the 19th to watch the game. Its a bar where Soccer is Religion....

John "pants" Conway can practice

Well, Mr. Don Garber has allowed Mr. Pants to practice with the red bull team during the regular season. I don't know what this means, but we all can agree that Danny "spiderman" Cepero will be the starting Goalkeeper opening day and Possibly for the rest of the season. With Alec Dufty playing a half in the last game in Argentina, is this a possible sign that Red Bull want to Trade Conway? Well now its much more easy to trade him now that he will practice with the team that he will be with. With Red Bull Haveing 3 goalkeepers in camp, one has to go, and and Conway is making 90K over the Starting goalkeeper, I wouldnt say that a fair game for Cepero, I think Sir.Osorio and Agoos are looking at the trade options. If a trade goes down it will help Red Bull a lot and will be able to sign Dufty to a small contract and Red Bull will be able to bring a good player to help out on the field.

Report: Vancouver and Portland are locks for expantion!

Sources have told me That MLS has made up thier minds on the next two MLS Towns. This is because the Whitcaps have a stadium plan in place and a solid ownership group. As for the Timbers, they already have a stadium it just has to get modernized and they also have a deep pocketed owner/family. Timbers owner still awaits the final OK from the council tomorrow, reports have said that Paulson and the Council have already agreed to terms and the Council will give the OK for the Proposal, which that gives Portland a MLS Team.

I will be going Indepth with these two expantion towns later in the day, so look foward to it please. What do you guys think of the new MLS Towns? Great? not so great?

NFL Stadium Turned into Soccer Stadium: Qwest Field

Qwest Field is ready to go for opening day vs the New York Red Bulls. looks like this Front Office gets it. I personally like what the Front Office did. But I wonder if they can sell more then 32 thousand for this game? Looks like its gonna be loud on the 19th in the North West.

Expantion Update: Wenesday is the big day for Portland

Above is the big man Merrit Paulson. If there is one person I would want to meet is him. He is willing to pay 40 million dollars for a MLS and will pay off 85 million for everything else in bonds like renewing PGE Park, Making a new beavers Stadium and other great things. Portland Timbers have the best supporters club in America with out a doubt. Soccer City USA needs soccer team.

Wenesday is the day that the Council Members will Vote for or against this Proposal, already a tasf force voted for the propsoal and it was a land slide. Lets hope it will be the same with the Council Members. Here is a video of a interview with Merrit Paulson.

Report: Claudio Suarez set to retire

Sources have told Soccer Stop Blog that Long time Mexico And Chivas USA Defender is set to retire soon. A great defender for Chivas USA, They will lose a big part of thier defence. But he was not getting younger also. This could help chivas usa get younger and get someone in who has talent. Lets see what happens from his retirement.

Noon Time Soccer Sun Shine: Gold Cup Venues

The venues for the Gold Cup are: Los Angeles, Seattle, Columbus, San Franisco, DC, Philadelphia, Houston, Phoenix, Miami, Boston, Dallas, Chicago and New York (New Jersey).

the Final will be in Giants stadium.



I personally think that the hosts for the final and semi-final couldnt be better. Great soccer towns and the stadiums will be packed to the max. But for bad picks i think, Dallas, Miami, San Franisco and Pheonix will be a bust. Those are towns that either have horrible soccer attendance or have had a few failing teams, or don't even have a team at all. I see no point of San Franisco, but we will see maybe there is some soccer loving people there.

Happy Hour Lunch: Landon set to come back, But will "Mental Circus" Beckham?

With Donavon set to comeback on March 10th http://thelagalaxy.blogspot.com/2009/03/landon-set-to-return-on-mar-10.html , the LAG look like they have one missing piece to finish off thire foward fire power and midfield, yes we know LAG's back line will probably be the slowest in the league and again will allow lots of goals, but then again they will score a lot. One Missing piece is "Mental Circus" Beckham. Even tho I would love Becks to leave this league so LAG could get a lot of allocation money and re build thier team. But if becks is back, he will be comming back to a way improved team by LAG boss Arena. I believe Gordon is a better player, also with his head, and Defender Omar Gonzalez is a beast with the head, oh dont for get Tony "slow mo". So that gives Becks 3 Options to get some great assits in there, heck even speed american gonazlez Donavon can head the ball.

I think is a great Improvement from last year, i can tell you this there will be a lot of crossing and a lot of threw balls being played on this team, it will also be a fast pace game, if Becks is not there i could easly see Donavon going to the out side and put Gordon up top. But we will still see what Bruce Arena wants to do with this team. It should be exciting to see. This MLS season should be a great one!!!!

Pacheco to Red Bull New York?

Well is Pacheco doing another Manny Ramirez? Sayin the he is in talks with the yankees but there is really nothing going on. Well Red Bull is denieing these reports. But we maybe seeing RB either cutting a international player Like Borman, or waiting for a player like etchiverry to get out of injury to cut him. With one of those two possibilities happening then Pacheco is on his way to NY. I would see Etch gone before Borman because, Etch has not produced any thing and has a high salery. With the signing of Carlos Johnson comming close, the Pacheco signing would help out our defence greatly. Here is a video of Pacheco speaking.

Friday Morning Hangover

SANTOS, LOS SUPER MANOS!!!!

Well last night probably was the worst night for Montreal and Canadian soccer. Not only were the Impact up 2-1 in the game at the half, but the were up 4-1 on agg. In my eyes I would blame the coach on this loss. I looked like they were playing the offsides trap against a team that is faster then them. I would think that when the game is at 3-2 that you would think that the coach would say, just kick that ball as far as you can and make sure no one gets in the box. Well that did not happen. If i was the owner and a supporter of the team i would go after the coach. That must of been some of the worst second half coaching I have ever seen in my life. Plus where is the captain, he should have some smarts and tell his defenders and defencive midfielders what to do. Well here is a video and you tell me what you think!



Red Bull New York vs Boca Juniors

Red Bull Reader will be telling us about the game live on www.redbullreader.com at 2pm. The red bulls are undefeated in Argentina, lets see if they can pull out a win vs Boca to make thier stay in Argintina a great one. Lets see if Boca puts out a strong squad out there, if so this will be a great match to see if RBNY puts out a strong one too.

Hello SANTOS, BYE BYE Montreal....

Mr. Mexico up top always looks to be hurting, but this time he is pointing the finger and laughing at the impact that his team won. Santos Won 5-2 vs Montreal today. This game could possibly be the biggest Upset in Concacaf Champions league history! I don't know how you let in four goals in the second half, TWO OF THEM IN STOPPAGE TIME!!!! Mr. Saputo has to be shaking his head saying what happen to my team.

I will post more about this match in the morning, im sure most are still going crazy about this game.

Today is march 5, 2009 and SSB just came back from vacation.... yes we SSB will promise you that we will have some stadium pictures from RBA ASAP.

We will also be re-doing the site to make it more soccer savy.... and not only will this be a Stadium constrction picture site, but an all around soccer site....
